well yes and no. I'm not familiar with the welding helper magnets, but most (all?) permanent magnets lose magnetism if they get too hot. The ubiquitous neodymium iron boron magnets lose much of their magnetism permanently at a fairly low temperature. Back when I designed BDCMs for space we were not allowed to use them for that reason, and had to use Samarium Cobalt which is nearly as strong, but has much higher Curie temperature.
