Hey guys, I live in the equivalent of half a room. My space is extremely limited, and there is a great deal of wasted space on the horizontal plane. I want to build an upper floor, since i sleep on the floor on a thick blanket, I was thinking of making a floor upstairs and sleeping up there (I weigh 55kg but I might have others over so I'm not sure if its a good idea to depend on boards up there).

Here are my ideas

1. Get a sleeping bag instead of sleeping on huge blanket if I choose to sleep on the ground now.

2. Build an upper, use it to store my clothing and whatnot or sleep in it.

3. Add smart controls to the lights (with motion detection and/or wifi with esp8266)

I've tried to make my room more efficient but there is only so much room I can use, so the vertical space is something I want to use.

Got any ideas and suggestions /diy/? I've looked at some small houses and hong kong style 1 room places as well, but I'd like good material ideas (I don't mind looking in the trash, after all I live in a 3rd world sized room) and ideas for using the space most efficiently. Thanks!
