You can't make that cut with an angle grinder, period - no matter how many blades you have. You need a band saw with a metal cutting blade. A plasma cutter large enough to go through an axe head costs $$$$.

Check craigslist for a used band saw. You will not be able to machine the head of that axe into what you want for less than the cost of a new pickaxe or wood axe.
