Get a job early so you can start your savings account. Also, focus in all your classes and do your work, even in the writing classes you hate so much because then you won't be stuck in limbo as to whether you'll graduate this year or not and go to grad school on time. You won't have to do them again afterwards and they won't royally fuck up your GPA.

I need to amplify cell signal somehow. Logically, this means
antenna > amplifier > antenna
My problem is that I can't find any reliable sources about the requirements for any of the parts. How strong does the initial signal need to be, how much gain do I need to cover a house, etc.

Any information relating to antenna design would be great.

Also, I'm reasonably sure I need an amp, but theoretically I could get this to work passively right?

The end goal is to build it as cheaply as possible. It can be about 10 cubic meters size-wise.
