I've run into a pretty frustrating problem with my current project.

So far I cut the slots in one of the sides of this bookshelf... but I did it with a jigsaw, unaware of the tendency of the blade to bend, apparently. I didn't notice that almost none of my cuts were vertical until afterwards. I still cut inside the lines, which actually helped me out, because I was able to smooth out the sides with my circ saw.

The problem with that is I can't make the inner edge of the slot a straight cut with the circular saw, and I don't know how else to make it straight, aside from sanding for an ungodly period of time.

If all else fails, I can cut a little deeper than necessary and try to fill in the excess with wood glue, since that's how I'm fastening all the pieces anyway, but I want it to look a little better.

Advice, /diy/?

Sorry, e-readers don't give me the texture and smell of that old paper thats yellowing but is still perfectly legible and readable.

I buy almost all of my books from used book stores.

I'm building a book case right now, but I'm slightly frustrated because I feel like I can't get a straight enough (vertically) cut with my jig saw. I didn't even realize that my cuts weren't straight until I went to sand them. It's fixable thankfully, but in the way that just means that I have to repeat a lot of hard work and figure out a better way of doing the rest of the cuts for the other parts of it.

Here's a quick sketch I have of what I have in mind. My goal is to be able to slide everything together and just use wood glue. I feel this design probably has a good deal of strength without using braces.
