Might be difficult in a short period of time.

You can hook these up with a micro controller like an Arduino or a Tiny and make simple code that when the uC goes high on a digital I/O pin it will connect that line to the 12V.

Interesting, never even thought of that. I would recommend having black pieces/slices separating the glass sections. The bleed through of other LEDs from section to section can be pretty intense if it's a homogeneous piece of natural PLA.

I would be ok with that. Also, good luck on soldering the C part. It's going to be a pain in the ass.

An example of what I was working on for my first 3D printed neon sign.

this is a good starting resource. If you're going to do 12V as in a car you're going to need a medium between the 5V microcontroller and the 12V lights. This isn't hard to do though. There are youtube guides on it.

Yes, you can still do an amazing assortment of colors, but the entire strip.

You can make a somewhat sound proof case pretty easily, just get some foam to stuff a plastic case tightly and seal it up. That high pitch whine really does a number though. I don't even have tinnitus and it bothered me.

Those kind of look cheap. I'm experimenting with 3D printed neon signs. Those "leafs" could easily be printed and back illuminated with WS2812bs.

The beginning of my sign. I have some tweeks to make, but all-in-all it's turning out how I wanted it to look.
