I see where you guys are coming from, but I don't really agree with you. By honoring scientists and inventors from history and popular culture in the /diy/ pantheon, we would be showing our aspirations to be as successful, innovative and creative in our pursuits as they were in theirs. While I agree a mascot of some sort would be more appropriate to show around on other boards or whatever, I don't think that it's out of place to show our appreciation for them like this.
