Hood has a rigid loop that allows you to keep it up and away from your face even in the wind. The real fur on the hood helps keep the blowing snow from freezing to your face and gluing your skin to the coat.

Also they're very long and very, very heavy. Elastics everywhere to stop the wind. They're literally called Resolute jackets.
