Thanks anons. I was pretty pleased with myself after I finished it.

The darker brown looking wood used for the table and carcase of the cabinet is black walnut, the doors and all the little little inlays are made from redwood burl veneer. The light wood used for the stringing and banding is Holly.

The cabinet doors are coopered, meaning they're made in a similar fashion to a wine barrel, though, as their serpentine, it's a little trickier.

The legs are were turned on a late, then using an index ring and a router fixed on a special jig I added the grooves for the reading, they get cleaned up my hand using purpose made little profiled card scrapers.

I've been woodworking for almost 10 years now, tis a fun way to make a living.

This chair is made from Holly, with a piano black finish (black leather dye and shellac), I learned how to use gold leaf for the embellishments and I cheated and used pre woven caning for the seat (I've since learnt how to cane preperly). The 6 beads run from the very top of the stiles to the bottom of the front legs, tapering as they go.

Each piece too two months at a full time furniture and cabinet making trade school.
Sold the table and kept the top, wish it was the other way around though.

This was another fun one. It has six beads that run the full length of the side rails, they taper from about 7/8" to 1 1/2", cut in with a scratch stock and a special jig to hold the workpiece.
