I'm building a deck with the joists on top of the beams. How do I connect joists to beams? Pic-related are two options for "rafter ties". Do those also work for beam-to-joist connection on a deck? Which one should I use?
And how many would I need for each connection? The left option could theoretically have 4 ties per connection (one in each corner) and the right option could have 2 (one on each side). Is that how many I would need or would I just need one per connection?
