Prior to 2020, traffic in my area used to be evenly split between 2 meter and 70cm for analog, non internet linked traffic, but now days there's basically zero activity on the 70cm band in my area that doesn't involve digital modes or internet linking. Looking on Repeater Book, about 40%-50% of the 70cm repeaters in my state and the surrounding states are digital mode or internet linked as well. Part of me is tempted to get some older single band 2 meter gear now because I love the aesthetic, after deciding against it in the past because doing so would lock me out of half the local traffic in my area.
