angle grinders are one of the few tools left that should be left to corded, they just drain power way too fast when you are hamming on the trigger for 5 minutes straight. even bigger tools like rotary hammers and miter saws need less raw electricity to get the job done since they are only running for 5-20 seconds at a time.

i'll shill Milwaukee cordless all day, i have all M12 Fuel tools in my shed for working around the house but the only corded tool i have is a Bauer 5" angle grinder for sharpening lawnmower blades.

EVERYTHING should be cordless, however there are certain tools that are better suited to being corded and depending on *your* application be better off with a constant electrical flow.

>stationary tools like a panel saw or belt sander
>very heavy duty applications like 1" impact guns, 10"+ circular saws, 2"+ concrete core drilling, or welders
>tools like grinders, buffers and sanders that you might be running straight for 10 minutes+ and need to cycle between multiple batteries to continue your work
>stationary jobs like running a router around furniture edges or hacking up 2x4s all day with a circular saw for framing.
>most industrial applications where most of your work is done within 100sf of your work station and a constant flow of electricity and power is more desirable than the portability of cordless tools.

in a world of cordless SDS Max Rotary Hammers, Magnetic Drills and 1" impact wrenches the list of tools that you *should* buy corded is constantly shrinking.

however for regular DIY people there is no reason to spend a fortune on a fleet of brushless tools with enough lithium batteries to level your garage. the key advantage of cordless tools is portability, which isnt a big issue if you are spending a majority of your time in a stationary location like a shop ripping plywood. a cheap Ryobi circular saw with a cord will be lighter and just as powerful as a fancy Milwaukee cordless saw for half the price and you can run it all day without stopping.

its hiding in the corner of their 2019 M18 Fuel lineup photo but it doesnt have any official specs, hell it doesnt even have a model number yet.

most people estimate it to have around 2000ft/lbs in the final production model, in their tech demonstration they had it up against a corded Makita model that put out similar numbers.

or you could have one brand that makes all those tools with the same battery and give them all your shekels.
