I need help picking some coax. I'm lost in all the choices.

I want to mount my longwire antenna outdoors permanently, so I need to run about 75 feet of coax thru my crawlspace and out to a post in the yard where I'll have a proper lightning arrestor+ground and waterproof box for my balun. This is for rx only, I have an RSP2 SDR and will probably be building a beverage antenna or extreme long wire (500+ feet, I live on 12 acres in the woods).

So which coax would you use? 95% of it will be indoors except for the last 8 feet or so. Maybe a bit farther if I end up buying a 100 ft spool. I just had 2 kids so I'd prefer to keep it as cheap as possible. I wound my own balun (posted it last thread) and use free wire from work.

What's the cheapest desktop ham/sw receiver like in OP's pic? Used is fine, I just want something big to sit on this giant oak desk I just got. I'd like to hang a wire and listen to stuff in the evenings. I have a couple SDR's so I have an idea what I'm doing.

thanks for replys..

a simple relay with constant power sounds good..simple enough.

on the same subject, do you know of any simple circuit - learning electronics books that are good visual manuals I could get started with? The school text books I usually find are long-winded and lacking really good visuals..

The 386 audio amplifier is one of your best bets, good quality audio sound, simple to implement and powerful enough to drive up to a small 8 ohm speaker. Better than any dodgy transistor based preamp.

I guess he means preamp, but who knows.

Sensors sent info about your movement, microcontroller processes the info and does the math to make the motors counteract that movement, making the glass stay in the same place.

By toy I mean "object to admire and enjoy", not "here 4 year old, play with this". Cost is not an issue.

> switchers
Can't find shit but routing boxes for A/V and other signal gear (no, I am not building an A/V switch into my robot).. got a more googlable name?

> decoder
> I don't think this is what I'm after. This appears to use cascading "and" gates to simply decode a x byte word out to a y byte output. I need the ability to switch a PWM signal between two devices, based on the status of a single binary input. State 0 = signal goes to output A, state 1 = signal goes to output B.

And final request, does anyone into regulators enough to answer my queries here >>772895 and here >>772908?

Hey /diy/ I've started on making a new table to replace my old, and somewhat small, L desk. I need some advice on how to paint/seal MDF. The top of the table is MDF and the bottom is either pine or some other softwood (got it at home depot). I'm looking to get a nice thick coating on it but with a low sheen (~10%). How would I go about this?

I know that I need primer but any suggestions to some good paints that isn't too expensive?

There are so many resources online it's not even funny. The gist is you can make your own propane torch with materials from any hardware store and a kiln section with some firebricks or high temp refractory. Also a lot of people make charcoal forges which normally are put in the ground with some way to feed fresh oxygen to the fire. For an anvil you should read about buying used since new prices are normally about $5 a pound and you'll probably want about a 85#er. It's not uncommon to just stick a piece of tool steel or rail road track on stump for something to bang on. Just google it there's too much information to cover that people aren't gonna bother repeating here.

WAT
the market is exploding with these things recently.

ok, you made me reply, and now that I am at it, how about telling us what the printer has to be capable of.
> Total build size
> build speed
> portability
> modifiability (does this word even exist?!?)
and so on.
Also: Price range. Else I am going to recommend a Zprinter 650, lel

1/3 teaspoon of chloroform will make a human unsconscious.
1/2 teaspoon of chloroform will kill a human

With a small animal, the safe range is much much smaller.

You cannot derive a safe cat dose from a lethal rat dose (huge size difference, possibly different breathing and metabolism etc)
You don't know wtf you're doing.

tl;dr
don't do it.
