Hey DIY,
I'm going to be building a house (hopefully). The plot of land i'll be building on has been in my family since the 1930's. At some point, the city in which the land resides changed the zoning requirements, such that the minimum lot frontage is 60' instead of 50' that i have. Not a problem, as the lot is much larger than the minimum size, and all abutting properties have 50' frontage.

The problem i DO have, is that the road ends halfway into the lot frontage. The guy in the planning office told me that I, as the developer, am responsible for extending the road the extra 25' to cover the whole front of the lot.

I'm sorry, but this is bullshit. It's a goddamn city road. I have plenty of room for a driveway as well. If I were going to fix a pothole or something in a public road, i'm sure some union would be down my f****ng throat sending me death threats, so how is that I should be responsible for BUILDING a road!?

Does anyone here have any experience with BS like this, or does anyone have any legal advice? I plan on finding myself a lawyer once things get moving (for other reasons mostly, like enchroachment), but I figured I'd stop by here first.
