I didn't want to put another tube in front but the c channel is a really good idea. I can just carve out a channel with a router and screw it in.
Also thanks for the threaded inserts idea.
The wood is not the most beautiful but it'll do.
Also I went with 35x35mm tubing as they had a lot of scrap available and it was much cheaper. Paid 50€ for 28kg of steel tubing
