When you add a stopper and shipping it comes out to 10.92, which isn't that far from the $20 I spent on mine. (pic related) Also you would have to wait for a couple of days to get the airlock. That said buying an airlock would probably be a better option for smaller carboys (going off of what >>164828 said, I'm no expert) though.

Mine would still be better for larger carboys (from what I've been told anyway.) Also the reason I made this is so people could have a how-to to post in response to pics that feature incorrect (knapkin, balloon, etc.) airlocks or no airlocks. If you want to tell them to buy something you can always link them to the product as you just did.

Please don't turn this into an X vs Y hate thread.
