Dear /diy/,
Thanks to Uncle Sam I'll have 36 months of paid education. I already have an Associates in Gen ED, so that knocks off about 18 months of courses. I want to do Electrical Engineering, but I've heard nothing but horror stories of information overload. Also, I'll be relatively inexperienced going into the field when I start college next year (I understand all Engineering majors take the same core-upper division courses before branching off, but I want a pretty firm grasp of EE-related material before I start).
My question to you /diy/ is, "should I take advantage of the other 18 months of free education by starting my education as an Electrical/Electronic technician before starting my bachelor's, or would I be fine to just jump right into an EE degree?"

TL;DR: Learn to be a technician before starting a degree in Electrical Engineering, or just go right into it?
