I'm an installation technician. Basically I install video conferencing/presentation systems in conference rooms and schools mostly. Lot's of mounting TV's, projectors, screens, cameras etc, and a lot of running cable, mostly cat6. I also do service stuff, so showing up to a/v systems where something isn't working and trying to fix it.

There's a lot of programming that goes on too that I'm trying to get into. Most of the equipment has a cable running to a processor made by Crestron, Extron, or AMX, and there's a touch screen interface for the client to interact with. So it all the ins/outs etc need to be programmed. I've only dived into it a little bit, since I can't really do it on my own time without equipment, but It looks piss-easy and with the exception of AMX, it's all GUI based programming. This-goes-there type of stuff. Pays a lot more, but I need my company to invest and send me to training or else I'll be stuck doing installs forever
