I'd def vouch for properly drilled NMO holes with properly run coax. If you end up wanting to use other types of radios, you'll basically be able to find any antenna you could ever need with an NMO base on it. They also make 3/8" to NMO adapters for CB antennas. I don't use CB that often, but when I do, I have a RoadPro RP-550 with pic related adapter and just pop it on as needed, instead of a thick-ass Firestik.

Also, a DIN install with a front-facing speaker is probably the simplist, but if you do end up getting a ham or GMRS license or something and wanna add more radios, you could always look for an old Havis type center console that fits your car.
