One thing I have found infinitely useful is to take a spare car key and gorilla-tape it to the inside of my car's body somewhere out of the way. Make sure you thoroughly clean the dirt off before you tape it and make sure you can easily reach it but a casual inspection won't see it or feel it. Even if you never lock your keys in your car, the sheer amount of time you save by never doing the "oh shit do I have my keys?" routine is well worth it.
