My laptop's charger is 12V 2A. One of the "mods" people do is to make a charging cable for the car to charge directly from a cigarette lighter. I got the cigarette lighter plug and the correct barrel jack plug.

What wire size do I have to use for this? Most charts seem to say I need 18AWG but Quora and StackExchange have answers that say much smaller wires are ok.

I have some 30AWG for wire-wrapping use. If I multistrand this (say 4 strands for each of plus and minus) would that work?
