Yes I think something went wrong. It is a few days ago that I tried with the resistors (breadboard). Earlier today I used one of those three legged blue adjustable resistors (trimpots?) in place of the two resistors. I managed to get the LEDs to turn on but they acted weird. I used random LED colors so that might have affected something.
I am putting it together on the breadboard with 1 and 10 K resistors and will post pics of my handiwork.
