OP here. I was looking more for stories from people that had actually built their own grill.

I was hanging out on /out/ and getting the urge to make a rocket stove, but realized I really should replace my $5 hibachi first. I cook on the grill way more than I cook up to camp.

I thought about that. I will probably do it unless I hear a real brainstorm. My neighbor has an enclosed grill that works like a charm.
