Air's easier if you got no interior power or are using it for sustained periods (eg, any sort of commercial shop with more than 1 employee). Less maintenance, more power, and you can lock the whole thing off with a key. It all depends on the application, nobody is using an air drill for residential rough-ins or additions but air is great if you have to manufacture 5+ prefab wall units. It's more power efficient too, especially if more than one guy is using the tank at once (this does require a large tank though).
