I took my daughter's car down for an MOT and was quoted £800 to pass it. I was told all 4 brakes need changing (front disc/pads, rear drums), there is a leak in the exhaust and some welding needs to be done. I decided to deal with the brakes and exhaust myself for a fraction of this and to just take it somewhere else after that likely won't tell me to get welding done.
Picrel is the brake pads I just took off. Is this garage mugging me off or do they really need changing so this level?
