Well, basically, this should be your main procedure:

>mom says shit broke
>google "repair <broken thing>" or similar
>look it up on youtube aswell for tutorials
>learn how to fix it and fix it

There you go.

Depends on which things you are going to fix regularly, google or use common sense to look for which tools people use to fix things you will need to fix or could be in need of repairs in the future.

A basic general use set could be:
Hammer
Epoxy
Electrically isolating tape
Drill
Bow handsaw
Duct tape
Contact cleaner in a spray can (you'll be able to clean nasty stuff leaving no residue and damaging nothing, WD-40 contact cleaner is recommended).
Sewing machine/clipper oil
Screwdriver set

If you will be messing with electronics repair:
cheap 30w soldering iron
5 core flux solder
solder wick

This is all basic and non-specific. The only power tool is the drill.
