So if I'm not someone who wants to mount an antenna on on a car, and wants some thing handheld that might reach a tiny bit father than FRS, should I go buy a CB or a MURS? I'd be in rural areas hunting or canoeing.
It's sad to hear that rain kills MURS.

For car Lil'will or Wilson 1000 are good mag mounts.
Pro move would be to drill and install NMO mount and use Larson NMO27. Then later on you could out antenna's to different bands quickly.
