Also I think the reason for 11/32” is… 3/8” is the max jaw opening of the smaller cordless drills, so it’s just under the max opening of the 3/8” chuck drills and will def fit a standard 1/2” chuck, and it’s stronger than a 1/4” shank which could get torn up with heavy use on high torque drills and hole saws.

Some okder hole saw arbors had round shanks, but they slip easily, hence the hex. It’s sort of odd they put the little detent area like impact driver bits with the quick release, my older Milwaukee hole saws are either a 3-flat shank or a regular 6-flat hex. My newest set in picrel is the same one you have
