new to tools because I am trying to learn to work on my car and around the house

what is OPs pliers good for? is it something I should look into getting

also what sockets wrench and regular wrench sets would you recommend? pic related is what happened to mine when I tried to use a cheater bar on it lol. my current sockets should be still fine right? or do you really need quality/expensive sockets too?
