They're getting harder to get, and more expensive, but yes, that's the easiest route.

Yep. The current draw is very low on these active systems. The circuit turns off once the amp cable's removed and the batteries tend to last a long time. The problem is, they go dead when it's least convinient... like right before you're ready to go on. And no one ever has spares.

I've no idea how long they typically last in this one... I'm working on guitar for friend; it had a bunch of other mechnical and electronic problems. Guitar was missing battery door for 9V, I designed and printed a new one, then thought what would be a lot better is if the battery never had to be removed at all. I designed an alt door with cut-out for a cord.

As it sits now, I'll give the guitar back w/ 9V alkaline and call it a day. But was scratching head on why the 9V recharge didn't work.
