I got mugged when I was 22 (2 years ago) by a group of teenagers. About 16 years old I guesstimate. I fought with all my might, literally broke my hand on their faces, but I still ended up in the intensive care unit. There were no witnesses to the act itself, but I had to stumble more than a kilometer (0.6miles) in the general direction of the hospital before I found somebody willing to drive me the rest of the way. I encountered several people (6) that refused to help me along the way, before meeting the helpful soul. This all happened passing through an upscale neighborhood in Ghent, a modern western city with a decent friendly reputation and very low crime rates for a city of its size.
