We're very gross living beings.

With that being said, urine is actually a better choice as a fertilizer than feces. There's no risk of infections, parasites, or other potentially sickening misadventures. The only downside is the quantity of ammonia present in it...if you really wanted to go all out, you could distill it out fairly simply.

Properly dampered, 3 x dry logs, about 10" x 30" would last about 4 hours...it was enough to heat a 1400 sq ft cabin.

Wells, generally, the deeper you drill, the better. You may find potable water at 20 ft...in Michigan, this is usually the case. But, true drinking water, most well drillers prefer DEEP wells. More soil + sand = more filtration.

Sanitation, your biggest concern is keeping your sewage from contaminating yourself or your water supply.

Solar pump?

Nah.

Pic related, it's a more reliable, longer lasting idea.

It can do anywhere from 125 to 1875 gph depending on the cylinder diameter, well depth, and turbine size.

As an economist who is obsessed with inefficiencies, I will say, there are quite a few inefficiencies in your systems.

Solar panels are very wasteful and expensive.

You have a stream. Why not make a micro-hydroelectric dam? Hydroelectric is one of the oldest, most reliable, most efficient forms of power generation (not just electrical, but mechanical too) on the planet.

Water, why don't you have a well? Well depth is fairly low in Virginia. Old Aermotor turbine pumps pop up on craigslist randomly. You can dig a low-depth well fairly easily.

I highly advise wind turbines over solar. They're a lot cheaper, and a lot more efficient. Plus, you don't have to worry about snow load, or keeping them clean. Little-to-no efficiency drop with age also.
