they've used the same 18v battery for 20 years now and everything is backwards compatible.

you are screwed on the other platforms like the 12v and 24v tools though.

ends up he wanted circular saw blades but didnt even know the diameter of the blade, only that it was cordless. we carry four different Makita Makita circular saws with three different blade sizes, plus every other makita tool in existence that uses "blades"...

why not just get a black and decker circular saw then toss the rest? $40 for a 5 1/2in blade, not the best but thats what you get from B&D these days. neat that you can hotwire a new battery on but for most people its too much work and they'd rather toss the whole thing and start from new.
