Looking for some suggestions on a simple problem /diy/.

I've got some pieces of pegboard lying around, as well as several thousand LEDs, shift registers, and other components necessary to turn them into a really big LED matrix.

The problem is the holes in the pegboard are about two millimeters two wide for 5mm LEDs to sit snuggly in them.

There are LED holders like this available: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1000pcs-New-5mm-Black-Plastic-LED-Clip-Holder-Case-Cup-Mounting-Free-Shipping-/321136051089?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ac5334391&_uhb=1

I've got a few of them and they work perfectly, the problem is they cost even more than the LEDs for some stupid reason. ($25/1000). I think there must be a cheap DIY alternative, but I can't think of anything right now.
