I'd suggest;
> Herb/spice rack for the missus.
> tool carrier for yourself.
> Shelving in your workspace.
> Some basic cabinetmaking if you're up for it. what about a footlocker? A storage chest? CD/DVD tower?

Remember to sketch EVERYTHING before you start cutting wood, you may find halfway though the job you undercut a certain piece because you didn't understand how the whole thing would come together, and now you have a component that's X inches too short for its function.

I also used to get caught out all the time trying to use screws without pre-drilling. It's worth the effort, plus while you have the drill out you can do your countersink drilling etc. Also, be careful if you use bolts, while assembling pic related I crushed several bits of timber from over tightening, not so bad on a bit of 2x4, but for thinner stuff you'll crush the bolt right through the timber. Be careful and use big, big washers.

You might find these handy as well
