I used to spar with bokken (wooden katanas) but upgraded to Cold Steel's polypropolene bokken. I cord wrapped the hilt out of hockey tape. The wakizahis are made of old wooden swords that had broke in combat. Now we pad them with Wacky Noodles (neon-colored foam tube pool toy) so they don't hurt as much, it's like a nerf bat.

The exotic weapons here are models based off Hiroaki Samura's Blade of the Immortal manga. The artist admits no martial arts training, and wondered if any of the weapons he designed would even work in real life. So I made some out of wood, and some out of polypropolene kitchen cutting boards, but it seams that if they're carved and not injection molded, they break.
