i've never used a cpld before. i'm researching how i might use it to glue an adc, a dram buffer, and a uc together. how good are they at generating flexible waveforms like fig1 in pic related? i'm imagining them in terms of discrete logic where a circuit like fig2 would seemingly tie up a lot of resources in latches for counters and registers. i assume i have some misconceptions since this is specifically what they're for.
