I’m a commercial metal framer and shitrock hanger (aka Carpenter). If you are lifting board all day on the ground you will easily destroy your back and knees if you aren’t taking care of yourself on a daily basis. I’m an installer so I’m usually resting a large amount of the board weight onto a lift. 12x4 sheets of abuse board are absolute dogshit to lift off a board cart. Not to mention all the other shit you have to transport around and up stairs. Not to mention hazardous shit you have to expose yourself to. I got monokote in my eye before and had to get it removed at the doctors, I’ve inhaled an insane amount of brown death insulation packing walls. I’ve been around retard masons cutting block putting dust up everywhere. I’ve literally watched labors dump garbage cans full of concrete dust into hoppers and directly inhale the cloud of toxic silica. I take care of myself and love the work I do but it’s definitely not for everyone. And I haven’t even mentioned the insane drug addicts/Alcoholics you will come across working in construction. Definitely not for everyone and if you work around dickheads and their cocksucking dipshit friends you will not have a good time. Union or not, always find a good outfit of people you can work well with. Finding that is almost priceless and word of mouth and personal connections are pretty much what get you work in my trade. My union is gay as shit
