Hmm?

VHF handhelds typically are no bigger than a standard motorola talkabout. They offer 5 watts power, external changeable antennas, and superior range.

There are also "expedition" HF/VHF/UHF rigs out there.

Oh, I forgot to mention QRP stations.

Q-codes are used in morse code to signify larger meanings. They can be used in both interrogative and reply forms.

So I could say : "QRP?" and you reply "QRP".

QRP means "lower power". So, "Shall I lower power?" and the reply means "Go ahead and lower power."

QRP stations are stations that log contacts utilizing 5 watts output or less. They are typically battery operated and highly portable. I love the aspect of camping out in the wilderness, maybe on a mountain top, and logging contacts all over the world.

I love goathiker's videos:

Though I can't afford a dedicated manpack, PRC-320s are kinda pricey, which sucks, because they're such a cheap "green" radio.

I'll probably end up with a beater FT857 or FT817.

Alfa AWUS036H
1w 802.11b/g

It even has an RP-SMA port on it.

Coupled with a yagi, it makes a nice portable wifi setup.

It runs off of USB...I warn you though, it eats power like crazy.

I'd probably rock something like this for electricity.

I do want to get a portable HF transceiver setup going...
