It makes sense to me that with a single-axis strain gauge in each corner of the bed, for a total of 4, wired as a single w-bridge, so long as you have them oriented to detect change would work.
Similarly: having the full-bridge-in-one thin-film package type... on each corner of the bed, wired as 4 w-bridges all fed into the same trigger.. would work too.
Unless I'm mistaken its just a matter or making the current non zero, or differ suddenly, for the wheatstone to trigger whatever logic circuit is going to decide to signal an endstop or not.
