i went to build a metal rack for some gardening trays and bought up a batch of modern bed frames from the crap dealer. that stuff is the hardest steel i can think of ever trying to cut in conventional ways besides a torch.

is its hardness scale high because hurr bed fram better not collapse im fat?

welded up great, but damn was it hard to cut. i imagine you could forge a nice blace from it.

well i seem to have needed to replace another water shutoff valve. i have a galvanized riser for a hose bib set next the brick wall. i took 2 cedar fence pickets and mited 4 3 foot section so i could make a box around the galvanized pipe.
in the ornamental fence section of lowes they have thes little 4x4 fence post caps that have a copper finish. i didnt concrete it in and now the post is getting wobbly even after i bedded the post in with some good clay.

i modified a hot wire cnc cuter to do that to make windmill blades out of styrofoam.
if i wated to do wood it would be way more than worth it, i may as well get a job doing it for someone

i put old glass coke bottles into a 5 gallon bucket and lened it against a tree so i could shoot t them with my .177 pellet gun. the kind you pumped the shit out of it like 20 times.

anyway, when my grandfather found my shenanigans, my ass was whooped just enough to learn that that was a wrong thing to do. those were his bottles, not mine. i ruined his property. they had deposit value i guess?

dont fuck up shit unless it is yours.

hmm i never thought there would be such a mess over how i did the valve and the cheapo spigot on the front side.

like many have said, if you have a rigid section inground, you cant just show a T in there, gotta be creative.

it feels good after 20 years i can still fix the strangest and or simplest of problems. today was easy, shower valve leaked water when you turn shower on.

old worn out O ring.
homeowner happy.

anons, if you ever find yourself having to replace a rusted out water shut off valve on your side of the water meter, i suggest putting a water hose spigot on the meter side of the cut off valve.

that way in case you have an emergency water break on the property, you can turn off the water cutoff and still have running water.

pic related, i did this for a customer today. He was cheap and didnt want to spend the money on copper but the cpvc will be fine as long as he never hooks the hose to it and pulls 100 feet away and snaps the damn thing.

i have a feeling ill be back one day heh

in my 40's now i concur. it takes years of experience just dealing with failures to finally get something good.

students ever made anything we truly rely on today?
