Yeaaaahhh, not trying to launch Sputnik, much less an orbital space station...I was thinking large Estes size, not even /diy/ launch size.

Why couldnt I use a weather balloon to launch a small rocket to 100k ft and then fire the rocket to get into orbit?

You made me think about some sort of round dish with bowls of a predetermined size set in it and then set to a clocklike timer, and the food being gravity fed, or a flywheel with some sort of triggers on them to open the bin above the cat bowl for a cetain amount of time, or even to open the lid of the fod bin for a certain amount of time every 4 hours or something.

Ok. Cool stuff. If I ever decide to make a deck out of Native Australian Hardwoods and need it to last in the Outback, Ill look it up. For those of us in the US we usually use Cedar if we are being real serious or pine and seal the stuff. Works for a good 10-15 years easily. BTW the stuff is a tinted oil, it pretty much chemically treats wood that hasnt been Pressure Treated at all.

Pic related, make oil lamps out of burned out incandescents.

Umm its Mohagany, its one of the most water resistant, mold, rot and bug resistant woods on the planet naturally. Are you sure you didnt shellac this?Stain doesnt typically stand up off the wood so far that you would notice or care. Im guess you actually sealed this somehow. In which case, Id just slap some more Thompsons on it and call it a year. Stain is to change the color of the wood, not seal it.

Dude, jam a screwdriver in the ignition and turn. These ignition locks are about a 1$ for the manufacturer. They are CHEAP, so a flat head will prolly trip them all and start the bike. If it will at least cut the power to the engine on, you can kick start it, as almost all these little cheap suckers have a kick on them.

Is this on a boat? WTH? Why would you stain Mo?

Just an idea. They are a little expensive, but probably get a lifetime of use out of them.

I have to say, the trailer idea I think would be best, if you are looking for semi permanent. I would even look into maybe two or three of them if you got them real small. A real small one for a bathroom, and another for a kitchen, and another for a bedroom/living room. Not much folks could say about that. the problem I always have with that type of structure is the inherent insecurity. If you wanted to "build" a permanent structure, I would start with digging one. I know seems stupid but its not "unsightly" if there isnt anything there.

Ive seen people make oil lamps out of old incandescent light bulbs. Seems small scale and pretty easy.

Im not sure it would mater but what about a noise meter of some sort? (decibelmeter?) So it would record when it "heard" the shot.

As opposed to who?
The Egyptians, Syrians, Libyans, Any of the S. American Countries, Latin American Countries, Mexico, Any of the other Middle Eastern Countries, or your average European? Probably we just RECOGNIZE danger instead of pretending it doesnt exist.

I know this is /diy/ and all but what about asking the install company to do it for you for a reasonable fee? You could probably take it to them and leave it for cheap. If you had told them to begin with they might have done it for next to nothing.

Northern Tool sells the kits and barrels I think. I know they sell the kits bc if you look at the front door of mine >>260142, you'll see its the same brand. they make cool stuff and I was gonna /diy/ the whjole thing but it was just going to be time consuming and not turn out near as well, so I rigged the kit to work. Im going to do a top barrel type of deal sometime this fall to take advantage of all the heat escaping there.

NAH! You got it right. Fireplaces are horrible for that too, drawing the combustion air from out of a room, and therefore making the outlying rooms colder rather than warmer. You can do all sorts of stuff to make wood burners more efficient though. I am thinking of adding another expansion chamber on top of mine

Feel free to ask anything else. I can tell you too, that it exhausts a TON of heat. If it wasnt in the shop the exhaust would be a fire hazard.

I built mine bc I have practically unlimited free firewood. So yeah its a lot cheaper than paying for fuel. The thing EATS wood though, if you have it cranked up. It'll go through about 10 barrels of wood a day if you are actively heating with it.

If you are a buy fag, Duluth Trading Company sells great pants out of the firehose canvas. Ive had mine a little over 7 years and work in them all the time and they are just now getting threadbare. Im sending them back soon bc they are supposed to be lifetime warranted.
