googling "black electrical component" only got me so far lol

ill go grab it out of my car and check to see if i can spot any other identifying marks... i didnt see any before (which was the problem) but i think maybe they got burnt off...

anyways what do you think could have caused this? i kinda dont want it to catch on fire.

as a sidenote this poster is correct about noise ordinances kicking in at night.... sort of.

noise ordinances are usually always in effect, and they limit how long you can make noise of a certain dB level during certain times.

eg, after 11pm, nothing over x dB for more than 10 min

but they also say nothing over XXXX dB between 9am and 11pm for more than 10 min

so, yea, you can run a power saw during the day, but you cant just run it all the time. there are limits. no 8hrs of jack hammering, for example. its not like you can do whatever you want all day and then all of the sudden you have to be quiet.

if you complain to the city and they have an ordinance like that they will even send someone out with a decibel meter and cite those assholes

lolol wow ok lets stop playing attorney since you're going to get this kid in trouble.

buddy, what state are you in?

theres a few things you can do
1) call police when they are violating a noise ordinance, if the cops have to come out enough times eventually they will be fined. get copies of the complaint from the cops.

2) write letter to landlord, mail certified / have him sign a copy acknowledging receipt. state the specific issue (in this case, it is "as landlord you have a duty to provide me, the tenant, quiet enjoyment. tenants in unit below are interfering with this right. please remedy this non-compliance with the lease within X days (set by statute).)

3) if that does not fix problem or landlord doesnt take it seriously, you can (depending on the state) likely send a similar letter stating that if the problem is not resolved within x days you will begin withholding rent, and will have the option to unilaterally terminate the lease.

4) if it gets all the way to that point and still no fix, then you can terminate the lease. but you usually, depending on the state, have to give written notice of the complaint, written notice of your intent to withhold and/or terminate, and you have to give the landlord a reasonable amount of time to remedy the breach. then, if you terminate, you have to provide a statement to that effect in writing.

so, tldnr, no, you cant just cancel your lease. nor do you have the right to get them evicted, only landlords can evict. disturbing the peace is not an "evictable" offense; what happens on the other end is that the landlord then gives the tenant a similar notice asking them to stop. if they do not, then the landlord notifies them that they are terminating the lease and they must move out in x days. if they dont move out, THEN the landlord can evict.

note, the "evictable" offense is not making noise, it is refusal to surrender possession of the property once the lease is terminated.

any questions?

this is one of my life long dreams

nay, outside of raising awesome kids, perhaps my only lifelong ambition left to achieve.

my plan is to work super hard, retire asap, and begin apprenticing to build this boat, learn to sail, and go full sea wolf.

damn calm down guys that wasnt even me just some asshole hijacking the thread

I dont really appreciate the criticism of build quality. I did not make this. it was obviously a quick and dirty job. moreover its not constructive.

anyways thanks for the input. I know that its a switch, not some sort of sensor like someone was saying. I know there are 3 resistors. I think theyre 10 47 and 100 ohm. the question I was asking was if anyone could posit some hypothetical use for the damn thing, and whether the E and F markings could help figure that out.

can you give any dash cam advice? did you do a lot of research? nevermind the insurance discount, im really really paranoid about liability and would LOVE to have cams at LEAST front and rear, preferably front, rear, sides, and one facing driver.

im an attorney and have handled auto accidents before. i cant tell you how many times i wish i had video of what happened...makes everything air tight... so many times its he said she said so cops dont issue a ticket, or issue one improperly. any idea how much my dream system would really cost?

this is a smart man. i do this, too; rationalizing the time spent to do something myself in terms of the money i saved equating to "income."

so long as my time isnt better spent working, i do it myself. right on man.

flush it. let it fill. turn off water supply. flush again to empty bowl.

use bleach, sponge, and soap to get most of the loose dirt out. turn water back on, let it fill, turn it off, and flush again.

now use pumice stone, aka mr. pumie, to get the stuck on stains off.

enjoy your clean toilet.

1) sand the ever living fuck out of them
2) wash with soap and water
3) wash with degreaser
4) wipe down with alcohol
5) spray 4-8 super light coats of VHT Epoxy paint (or appliance epoxy, but it does not have UV resistance so it wont hold up the same)
6) lay them out in direct sunlight for a whole day, longer if possible to cure those fuckers
7) install

Appliance epoxy is tough stuff. that bedliner stuff could work but it might be hard for you to find. appliance epoxy is what a lot of guys use for rims and chassis parts and should be obtainable for you.

fyi anyone who wants easy mode rust removal:

just soak the items in a big bucket of vinegar. its an acid so it will remove the rust but a weak one so it wont destroy the underlying metal. every once in a while i would take the item out, scrub it to agitate the loosened rust and expose more, until its where you want it. takes time (few days to a week, depending on level of rust) but very effective and no work at all.

i would also give a recommendation for epoxy paint such as that used on appliances which is very very durable for applications where wear is a concern. limited color choices but black gray ivory white silver even green and blue are available. tremclad and rustoleum are good stuff but epoxy is really tough

im reading a LOT of really dumb stories. anytime you suffer head trauma you should go see a doctor. I will tell you my clients story to illustrate why.

client is mid 20s male at a show (band, drinking, dancing) with his friends. after the show, as everyone is slowly leaving, a fight breaks out in which my client is not involved. a partygoer was on top of a security guard punching him, and my client goes in to pull him off. being overly defensive, the security guard thought he was getting ganged up on. despite not having the proper license or training, he had an asp (a police baton). he whipped it around and it caught my client in the back of the head. he was unconscious for 5 minutes.

when he came to, a police officer indicated that emts were on the way and told him to stay laying down. however, because of another fight, the officer had to leave him. my client ran away because of an outstanding marijuana charge, and refused treatment. he went home.

several hours later he woke up in excruciating pain. his friends rushed him to the hospital. he was in hospital for 4 days, at which point he died.

powerbridge is an awfully big hole for just a few cables. just make a hole the size of a regular electrical box and run an extension cord down to a second one. you could install proper electrical outlets and faceplates, etc. but if its all hidden its sort of unnecessary.

if you dont mind the hole or it being permanent then go for it but i say the easiest way is to snake some conduit in there or drop a pipe in from the attic.

if you cant find studs this would work

lastly, if brick or cement, fuck it and run the wires visibly. hide them some other way lol

as a side note OP, you may want to think about the fact that 90% of the time you will be lighting up the bass and snare. also that your cymbals will have no effect on the lights. point being it might not look as exciting as it sounds.

so you may want to consider a simpler system (or maybe install this as a secondary system) where the whole kit lights up in response to the music in general, or have all your toms light up any time any one of them is hit, etc.

uhhh just buy a lamp making kit, they are like $6. depending on the type you could do it different ways,

1) basket lamp kit, just clamp it on.
2) regular lamp kit with side wire exit: put thin bolt through lamp rod into tripodmount, attach lamp socket base to lamp rod.
3) through the base lamp kit: just drill out a cheap mount and put the lamp rod through the resulting hole.

this is almost too easy for diy

>> No.551593 [View]

1) spray it down with water.
2) mix 1 cup vinegar and 1 tbs dish soap.
3) scrub the shit out of it
4) spray it with some black vinyl dye ($7 at auto parts store)
5) hit with some 303 aerospace or whatever protectant you have around.

i actually saw some black vinyl dye (marketed as bondo brand auto trim restorer) for liek $2 at big lots. you could use that buy spray dye is easier. works great.
