You need to dry it out as step one. Put him in a toaster oven for a few hours at around 200* if you don't and put it straight into resin you'll end up with preserved bird soup.

I use automotive connectors for everything.

Pretty sure beppo meant female connection on the air compressor, if it was the male connector the tank would empty every time you removed the hose.
