I did one this winter. I had a thread on here for it. Ill add some pics tomorrow to this thread. I used a 250 gallon outer steel drum and a 55 gallon drum inner firebox. It works AWESOME! Heats a 3,300 sq ft shop in no time in the middle of winter here in NC.

OP, let us know how the first batch goes and how easy this is. I dont want tunnels but clandestinely being able to excavate sounds fun, and I do have a cabin in the Apps so It would be conceivable to core into the side of my hill and get some root/cellar/emergency shelter/cool basemen expansion action going on.

Why not a battery operated toy with a cam? Like a tank or car? Just a thought. Google this stuff and you should find plenty on it. Its not rocket surgery.

You guys keep saying this, and it makes sense and Im willing to believe it but I know guys, first hand, that have buried the 20' containers and have had them in the ground for more than 5 or 6 years now and you cant tell it at all from the inside. Im sure they are probably rusting away but they arent bowing or wet inside.

I always though tit would be fun to perforate the door somehow so when it got kicked in, it just tore at waist height. So its be like kicking in the bottom of a barn door, there would still be a topin place. Just for teh LULZ!!!

You can get these for a LOT less than 4k$..think closer to 1k$ and if you look hard enough and know the right folks you can get them from FEMA or off military use fully loaded for around 4k$. If you are resourceful you can get one on a trailer and drive it to where you need it. Or have it hauled by a rig. Most folks that are enamoured by these things have some sort of "in"

I only wish there was an ammunition and a weapon powerful enough to take this thread down.

Im just curious about why you need the containers. You can build a nice warehouse and then just divide it up pretty cheap. the whole point behind containers is they are Lego-like and you can use then as walls to a bigger structure. If you arent going to use them as the outside walls or as structural support why bother?

PDX is the coolest shit in ammo in the last 10 years easy. And why is it everyone here arguing about for slugs has forgotten that shot comes in different freaking sizes? You could use #4 or #2 or any other shot you wanted. I happen to use 00 buck but thats jst my choice.

OP If you dont want a firearm you could go LTL and get a paintball gun full of OC paintballs.

you can even skip step one there. Just point in general direction of noise and pull trigger.

Sorry to hear about your uncle. Im betting he already had some hearing damage, and he, in a nervous state, defending his life, probably turned his shotgun too far over and had the chamber too close to his ear. It takes A LOT of pressure to rupture an ear drum. A LOT. Like more than what sitting in a car shooting a 12ga produces. That being said your uncle is alive to bitch about not hearing and THAT is the point behind home defense. Now the real question is "Did he hit ANYTHING?" Anything at all? BC I bet he didnt, proving the point that most folks cant aim in high stress situations.

Your first victim might not care but the one you hit AFTER the one you meant to, might care a lot. THATS why I dont use slugs or rifles or even my handgun for HD. I use my Lil Pardner 12ga.

You are a retard. It will NOT blow your eardrums out, and even if it did, better YOUR eardrums than the burglar/thief/murders killing/robbing/raping you.

Not a lot, except you have to aim the rifle. Again, the major advantage of a shotgun is not having to be really well versed in the operations of the weapon to get it to be effective.

As much as Id love to agree with you bc handguns can always travel with you discretely, the OP probably cant hit the wall from across the room in his house in the dark while trying to defend himself, so I would say a 9mm is definitely out of the ?.

>MFW NO F*&KING FACE!!
Again, if this anon could shoot, he wouldnt be asking about home defense. Shotguns dont require a whole lot of aim. Also, HOW F*&KING expensive is an AR compared to a Pardner 12 ga? The cheapest AR is like 600$ for the shiiiitiest AR imaginable and a decent pump is like 150-200$

My best, all serious, easy to follow advice? Be the badass redneck on the block. My neighbors have watched me pull my Saiga with the drum, body armor, and cases of ammo out of the truck, just to come back and get the shovel, tarps and duct tape in the second trip. They are ALL very friendly. I also give them a hand when I can. I buy Girl Scout cookies, and candy bars from their kids. I mow their yard if they go on vacation. And I back people out of the neighborhood. We had a group of "kids" that lived at the end of the road cuasing a ruckus at all hours of the night. So EARLY one morning I went down and had a chat with them. No more problems. Know your surroundings, know your neighbors, be a team. Like the one ANON said, have a plan, FOR ANYTHING. Zombies, tornadoes, floods, whatever. It makes it hard for people to rob, or attack you when you are prepared.
