dude you're the dumbass. your "landlady" put those there to help keep you and your shit safe. it is most likely a violation of your lease (and just plain shitty to her) to remove the bars without her permission. you ought to get permission from her to install them.

that said, if you really want them off, you're going to have to grind off the heads of the screws or drill them out.

keep the bars and reinstall when you're leaving. i shouldnt have to tell you that the whole point of those things is that they are difficult to remove from the outside.

dont toss old bolts they are often odd threads and sizes. just soak in vinegar for a few days and clean with a wire brush. they will look new.

get it all stripped down, sand everything, clean with paint prep, hit it with primer, then a good oil based rust inhibiting paint, then let it CURE for a LONG TIME before touching it. it gets hard as nails.

+1 for the spoke replacement, i dont think thats impermissible for a restore. they would all just break anyways.

saying you cant replace the spokes is sort of like saying you cant replace the tires, brake pads, or windshield wipers on an old car when you restore it.

the whole idea is to keep as much as possible original but it still has to be safe and useable. there's a trade off.

vinegar or water + molasses works very well also for rust removal.

shake it up / stir it around a bit every once in a while. I leave very heavily rusted parts for a few days and 99% of the rust will come off with a brillo pad.

use the postal service's postage calculator. with enough postage it will arrive, but to be sure you ought to just take it to the post office to make sure you've got enough postage.

if you know the size and weight of the envelope / package you can calculate the cost of shipping online. however, if its like $7 postage, thats like....16 stamps...

dude ive had the $20 variable speed Chicago Electric rotary tool for years and it is amazing. you might want some better bits but these have been working fine for me. ive cut holes in pc cases, polished jewelery, stripped paint and metal, installed a preamp in a guitar, hell, i cant even remember how often ive used it and ive never had a problem. fully variable from 8k to 35k rpm.

http://www.harborfreight.com/variable-speed-rotary-tool-kit-68696.html

if you really want something fancy i heard a lot of guys buy this: http://www.harborfreight.com/flexible-shaft-grinder-and-carver-40432.html and replace the end with a Foredom 44t.

2 speed dremel is a waste IMO

hes concerned about it draining the pond because if the outflow is unable to match the amount of water the pump is pulling out of the pond, the reservoir will fill and then start overflowing, ultimately draining the pond if left unattended.

in fact, any non-submersible pump could malfunction and cause such a problem. hence, put the filter in the pool.

the only 100% sure way to make sure you don't "rush" the filter is to PULL, not PUSH. so, just connect the pumps inlet to the outlet of the pump, set it in the pond, and have the output of the pump drain back into the pond. you can use this to make a water feature/aerator if you want. the other good part is that only CLEAN water will be going through the pump. if the pump were before the filter, then debris from the pond could damage it.

lastly, make sure you put some kind of screen or basket on the filter intake.

sit it in the pond and weigh it down. pipes are not the problem. pull water through the filter instead of pushing it through.

i would say that with a body that good (trim is there, glass is there, looks straight, dont see rust) its worth $1,500 even if the engine is blown.

grats man i love those things

lolololololol before you say things like this,
1) go to law school
2) go fuck yourself
3) nevermind dont bother coming back because we dont care what you have to say

anyways, after thinking about this, one of the easiest ways to hide this might actually be in plain sight....

if you mount it right next to or behind a flood light which is always on, two things will happen

1) it wont have to use its shitty IR leds, and video quality will be better as the area is lit by the flood light

2) its going to be fucking hard to see. have you ever tried looking directly at a flood light at night? its blinding. sometimes i cant see my house number because its too close to the light. if the camera is right behind/next to it, the would-be vandals wont be able to see it

I know 100% for a fact that you did zero googling before posting. you should be ashamed.

what you're building is basically an aquarium, its just your use that is different.

acrylic can be used, in which case I believe special glues are used which actually fuse the panels, but it scratches.

glass is better, and is held together with high grade silicone.
clamps and/or wood bracing is used during construction.

bracing may or may not be needed afterwards depending on size and design.

there are hundreds of plans online.

why the fuck are you doing this, if its your first time, just buy a used tank off craigslist for like $20 and go from there.

1/4 inch glass is like $5 a square foot on a good day.

so if you build a tank the size of my 55 gallon, that's about $75 worth of glass plus cost of cuts and grinding plus silicone plus you might fuck up.

Walmart sells a 55 gallon with hoods for like $100.

seriously think about this.

don't bring it to the store.

what version of windows do you have?
are there files on the pc you wish to save?

if the screen works in safemode, then it is likely a driver issue. safemode is overkill.

press f8 while booting and, depending on your version of windows, select "enable vga mode" or "Enable low-resolution video"

this should boot windows normally, but bypass your video drivers. everything will be low resolution. if this works, then fix your video drivers via windows update or by manually downloading the correct drivers.

even if this works, i would do a complete restore to clear the hard drive and start fresh.

there are numerous guides on how to do this, but basically:
1) download windows from the pirate bay
2) burn iso to dvd or flash drive
3) boot to installation media and reformat HD
4) install windows
5) connect to internet and install drivers

just make sure you have the windows installation media (working), the windows activator (windows loader), and your networking drivers (lan, wifi, etc.). If you can get that working, then you can get online to download everything else.

i got lots of smaller parts cleaned up nicely but i burned through a lot of little dremel wire wheels, and it took forever. i tried a large wire wheel on my drill but its not working very well on the base, and the inside of the handle is too small of an area.

made my own cloth covered wire.

18 gauge wire was like $.30 a foot
cloth sheathing was $.20 a foot
rubber plug was $.75 (there are cooler plugs but this was the best with 90 degree angle in it, which i wanted for this)
total: $3.75 for 6 foot power cable with plug

update!

pic relevant, current status of badges

jb weld knob rebuild fail. found replacement switch and era-appropriate replacement knob (not an exact match at all) for $3 for the switch and $.50 for the knob, was much cheaper than $40 for a reproduction knob.

(continued)

>> No.442500 [View]

well, fuq. jb weld no go, too weak.

the switch is constructed in such a way that it requires quite a bit of torque to get it to change speeds, which puts too much stress on the knob.

sigh on to the next part
