Irwin makes a nice Cobra knockoff and you can find the 2pk on sale for <$20.

The pliers wrench is the one thing that is neat and it’s so useful and far superior to the average adjustable that it might be worth the $50 for little shit around the house.

The HF 26” cabinet will be quite a bit larger. They’re quite a bit deeper than the Craftsmans. But for $120, that thing looks solid. And you could always add the middle or get a larger bottom part and use the old one as a rolling cart and work surface.

Shit, you could probablt stick it anywhere you could fit a filing cabinet. Makes sense if you have a good spot where nothing else would work. I have an area where the surface of my work bench overhangs the base and that thing would fit perfectly in that spot.

Home Depot has tons of different models with the curve. I have two sets of them, one is for smaller stuff like 18AWG-30AWG and the other is that all in one with the crimper and grey-red handle. Southwire sells basically the same thing at Lowe’s.

Those Quinn and Doyle pliers are bretty nice for the money.

Knipex is nice and all, but it’s another one of those things where you can find 90% of the performance for 50% the price and the average weekend warrior will never notice that last 10% anyway.

This is kinda what I have been doing to the GF’s dad. Only problem is he lives in an apartment. I gave him that toolbox and her mom was pissed but he was stoked, so now in their bedroom the mom has her night stand on her side of the bed and the dad has a tool chest. I’ll probably give him that little 3gal compressor I bought when I snag a bigger one.

I really haven’t spent that much on tools lately, I bought a lot of crap a few months back but now it’s like $20 here and there, maybe I’ll spend $50 at Hole Depot on a Fri after work if I get a paycheck with some vaca pay. The girl costs me way more, I don’t think twice about spending $200 on a random weekend to go out with her. Disney makes her so happy so $1000 to take her to Orlando for a weekend is worth it. But I guess when you’re in your 20s, it’s kinda nice to be able to go out to whatever restaurant you want for dinner before these Latinas start getting knocked up and have 7 kids.

I need to adult a little better though, gotta stack and build up some credit to think about a down payment and mortgage on a house instead of pissing away twice as much on rent every month. She’s bugging me about it too because I might have to buy that girl a ring one day.

Their tool boxes and jacks are good deals for the money, but not inexpensive items.

Those 29pc drill bit sets in the OP go on sale for $10 a lot, and people love those for working with wood because they’re basically disposable after you dull a few common sizes and break some of the small ones. The latex gloves and zip ties are popular items, free mag dishes are great to have around the shop. Mid-grade pliers and screwdrivers aren’t bad if they tend to disappear on the jobsite a lot.

The Braun 180deg slim light is on sale for $25 this weekend and that’s an awesome light for the money.

I asked the old lady who I got the bench grinder from to let me know if she found any big drill bit sets, but never heard back. Dead husband had all sorts of tools but the only drill bits I saw on the top of everything was one of those 14pc DeWalt Ti sets.

There was a compressor there too and I shoulda grabbed it, not sure if it’s gone now. I’m about to go pick up this tool box middle I just ordered from Sears.

Everybody on /o/ says it’s a giant pain in the ass. You will never be able to balance it either.

The Mexi used tire place in the hood will mount and balance a tire for <$40. Go over there with your own tire and save yourself an afternoon of fucking up the rim and a rough ride on the highway and see if they will mount the new one for $25.

Wew, they claim this thing is in stock nearby so I ordered it. Let’s see if she fits when they open later today. My pliers drawer will barely close and I have been waiting for a decent price on this for a couple months.

Meh. Depends what your doing. Regular M18 is bretty gud unless you NEED to drive giant lag screws with a 1/4” impact or you’re trying to remove semi truck wheels. When you consider a brushed drill and impact and 2 batteries can be had for $150 vs like $300 for the Fuel, you really gotta work those things to justify the cost. A weekend warrior who doesn’t want to settle for Ryobi or wants the M18 line for some of the tools probably would barely notice on jobs around the house.

I can’t imagine carrying that for long once it is full of tools. Bucket handles are so uncomfortable once there is some weight in the bucket.

26 seems to be the base models while 27-28 are the Fuel tools with brushless motors and better specs. DeWalt does the same with their XR tools.

If you’re paying the mortgage with your drill-driver, it may be worth spending 50% more to get 10% more torque and battery life.

That green plastic case isn’t quite so Ridgid tho.

Tbqhwy it’s amazing what you can get for the money and I wouldn’t tell any weekender not to do it. That brushless setup with free tools around Xmas was a steal, set up your whole workshop for <$300.

Better believe it.

And it’s funny as you watch some of the common HF products over time and how they switch suppliers and go cheaper and cheaper while stll selling them at the same cost (or free). Pic related. There’s like a dozn cutbacks on these lights compared to the prior batch.
