The black one is impossible to find where I live unless I pay like $5 a pack. So I've only tried the red and found it to be very mediocre. Is black that much better?

yes. the broth is fucking amazing with just that 1 extra packet. if it wasnt like 60% of my daily intake of sodium I'd just make the broth every day and drink it
