Why does food taste so much better when you're high?

Soup tastes unbelievable to me when I'm stoned. I lost my mind on some miso soup once and the ramen shop gave me a fucking discount because of my reaction.

It enhances all of the senses. If you weren't a virgin incel and had sex while stoned you would realise that.

I knew the sex thing. I just never noticed the taste until I had a really good soup... and now every soup tastes amazing when I'm high.
Also it doesn't enhance sense it's a depressant.

THC reduces communication among the cortex which, in general, has more CB1 receptors than on their mitochondria due to having evolved more recently and other parts of the brain within the limbic system, especially the amygdala. This can, depending upon other phyto-chemicals present in the weed and even food, enhance certain perception (like taste) by allowing the brain to hyper-focus and more easily eliminate "background noise".

It's not a depressant, it's a hallucinogen. They don't work the same way, which is why you can't kill yourself consuming weed.

Since this is the only thread I can think to post this, anyone know what strain has a low THC content? I don't want to get high, just unwind. Bonus if it doesn't stink too much because I'm moving to a state where it's illegal.

The grower's skills and the genetic makeup of the strain will cause the THC content to vary. It doesn't matter what it looks like either. THC can be high or low but in general lower quality schwag will have lower quality chemical makeups. You can investigate low THC strains on Leafly but I've always like Blue Dream as a sativa and White Rhino or Blueberry as my indica when making butters and oils because they taste best to me and have (typically) low THC content.
