Scotch, Irish, American, Japanese, Canadian, Taiwanese and so on. What are you drinking, /ck/? Chivas 12 here. From the 80s for the Italian market. It's got a built-in plastic stopper, which means it pours out very slowly. Still, beats modern Chivas 12.

So my Granddad died last week, in his will he left me, my dad, my uncle, and my two cousins each a bottle of pic related. They're both made at the BT distillery, and are often shipped off together. Regular BT costs half of what Blanton's costs, so BT wins on the price point. Blanton's does have an interesting gimmick, though. Each bottle cork is one of eight different phases of a jockey and race horse on a track, and it's sort of an ultimate goal for collectors to get all eight.

Bourbon Rankings Spreadsheet Update:

Several of the bourbons with common man/rabble ratings on Proof66.com were based on the rating of only one person, so I removed those, which reduced the list from 220 to 140. I now include the number of ratings that make up each rabble rating, but it doesn't factor into the scoring. Those that were removed were moved to a different tab in case any of them get at least one more rabble rating, in which case they would be added back. I also changed the price on which the cost score is based from $25.36 ($1 per ounce) to $16.91 ($1 per shot/serving). A lot of things really seemed to click once I changed that.

Buffalo Trace is still the winner. It also has the most rabble ratings (getting additional exposure by being a Proof66.com staff pick probably helps with that).

You are correct.

The score doesn't just take into account ratings from people, but also how well-balanced they are in terms of ABV and cost. Those with the highest scores with the ABV criteria are those that are closest to the average of the list (currently ~46.9%), and those with the highest scores with the cost criteria are those that are closest to $16.91 ($1 per shot/serving). The overall score is meant to identify those that are best suited for regular everyday consumption. Overpriced collectible ones get the shaft here.

Anything with the Bottled-in-Bond designation will not disappoint. To be able to legally call a spirit a bourbon, it has to meet several requirements, and to be considered bottled-in-bond (BiB), it has to meet an additional level of requirements. One of those BiB requirements is that it has to be aged at least 4 years. This is important, because within the past few years the whole industry has removed age statements from their bottles (presumably because demand for bourbon is increasing and they can't produce it fast enough). With Bib< at least, you know for certain that you are getting a legit product in terms of age, and also proof (it has to be 100 proof).

Pic related is the only one BiB I've had, and at $28.99 for a 1.75 L it's an absolute steal.

I tried standard Four Roses at the start of my bourbon journey months ago, but I didn't like it. My Dad and step-mom, who are based AF bourbon experts, insist that I try it again, as it's supposed to be the best great-flavored+reasonably priced bourbon out there. My problem the first time around was that I was drinking it like a college kid, putting it in the freezer and taking shots. Hopefully, drinking it correctly (sipping neat at room temp) will have a better result.

It's also a superb, versatile mixer if you end up not liking it straight. A little goes a long ways towards balancing out any scotch-based drinks which are just a little too sweet and need a little something to complete it. You can add a splash if it to any "boring" bottles of scotch you buy as well and a teeny bit will give a boring bottle a lot of character.

Peat is nice but people can get really pretentious about it. Whisky drinkers are already pretentious as it is but peatfags take it to a new level.

Highland Park 12 Years is real nice especially for the price since it's a premium Scottish Whisky but from Orkney which is kinda separate from Scotland since native OrkneyFags are basically half Norwegian, you don't pay the premium for Scottish Whisky. Likewise you don't pay the premium for English whisky (most based in the Peak and Lake district and so have the good water/peat for good whisky) which have been slowly in development for the last decade or two. In the future you will see English Whisky as good at Scottish Whisky in my opinion, although they will be dominated by Scottish flavour profiles no doubt. Since that's what British people pay for more so than that bourbon crap.

Never drink Irish Whisky (Except Northern Irish Whisky like Bushmills) it's vomit inducing and Irish are White niggers.
